Terms of Service
HideMyPaper ("the Service") is operated by [Operator]. By creating an
account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not
use the Service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian. You confirm this at sign-up.
Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and its output, and for complying with all laws and with the rules of any school, employer, or institution that applies to you. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
Your OpenRouter key
Humanizing uses your own OpenRouter API key and credits. You are responsible for your OpenRouter usage and charges. We never sell access to models; we pass your requests to OpenRouter using your key.
Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that output will pass, or be undetectable by, any detector (see Disclaimers).
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, [Operator] is not liable for any
indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for academic,
disciplinary, or professional consequences arising from your use of the Service. Our
total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the prior 12 months.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold [Operator] harmless from claims arising
out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
Termination & changes
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [your-jurisdiction], without
regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are subject to the courts of
[your-venue].
Acceptable Use Policy
You are solely responsible for how you use the Service and its output, and for following the policies of your school, employer, or institution and all applicable laws. The Service is intended for permitted purposes — for example, improving the clarity of your own writing, assisting non-native English writers, and other non-deceptive uses.
You may not use the Service to:
- break the law, or facilitate fraud, deception, or misrepresentation;
- violate an academic-integrity or workplace policy that applies to you;
- harass, defame, or impersonate any person;
- process other people's content without the right to do so.
We do not decide what is permitted for you — your institution does. When in doubt, check your institution's policy first.
Privacy Policy
This describes what the Service stores today.
What we store
- Account data (if you create an account): your name, email, email-verification status, a hashed password, session records, and the time you accepted these policies.
- Your OpenRouter key (account mode only, if you connect one): stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM). We display only the last four characters and never log the full key.
What we do not store
- The text you submit to humanize or detect. It is processed to produce your result and is not retained by us.
- In "quick mode", your OpenRouter key is never stored on our servers — it is sent from your browser per request and passed through to OpenRouter.
Third parties that process your data
- OpenRouter — receives the text you humanize and your OpenRouter key, to perform the rewrite.
- Cloudflare — hosts the Service (compute, database, static files).
- Resend — sends account emails (verification, password reset) and therefore receives your email address.
Cookies
We use a single, essential session cookie to keep you signed in. No third-party or advertising cookies.
Your choices
You can disconnect your stored OpenRouter key at any time from your dashboard. To
request deletion of your account and associated data, contact
[privacy@hidemypaper.app].
Disclaimers
No guarantee of evasion. AI detection is probabilistic and varies by detector and over time. We do not guarantee that any output will pass, or be undetectable by, any detector. Our free "AI-likeness" meter is a heuristic estimate, not a commercial-grade detector, and is not validated against commercial detectors.
No affiliation. HideMyPaper is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Turnitin, GPTZero, Originality.ai, OpenAI, or any other company. Such names, where used, are referenced only to describe interoperability or comparison.
Output may be wrong. AI-generated and AI-rewritten text can contain errors or change meaning. Review and verify any output before you rely on it.
